As one of the most beautiful mountain ranges of the Alps, these mountains have an otherworldly atmosphere that will make any photographer’s heart skip a beat. You’re right – I’m talking about The Dolomites in Italy. This place is honestly so gorgeous, and I feel so grateful to have visited more than once already. (See Taking Banksy to The Dolomites and The Dolomites, Party of Four).
Today I’m so excited to announce my new collection of The Dolomites – a collection that differs from previous ones I’ve released, as this time I’ve concentrated on nature and landscape photography. If you’re a nature lover, I can’t wait for you to check it out, and if you want to know more of thoughts behind this collection -please keep reading 😉
The Magnificence of Being Alone
Lago Di Braies
If you’ve ever visited the Dolomites before, you’ll certainly recall their overwhelming beauty. Being surrounded by such raw and powerful nature – the immensity of the landscape combined with the painting-like skies reminded me of how small and trivial my individual worries are – humbling, is probably the best word to describe it.
Trekking through the snow I just couldn’t help but just feel connected to something bigger than myself, and the inspiration to capture my surroundings flowed through me naturally – subjects as small as individual trees, and as immense as entire mountains almost framed themselves as they stopped me in my tracks over and over again.

If you’re familiar with my work, you know I really love focusing on specific details, and capturing subjects and scenes in unique ways. Each of the photos here were taken using either my 300mm f2.8, my 70-200 f2.8, or my 24-70 f2.8. Visiting the Dolomites was the first time I was able to really shoot with my 300mm lens, and it certainly was an absolute dream to shoot with. Being able to intimately capture the way the light highlighted the contrast between snow, rock formations, and greenery helped demonstrate, in my opinion, the sheer power that lives within these mountains. I took so many photos on my adventures here, and while some prints are certainly similar – the unique details within each work of art allow each piece to truly convey their own emotions.

In a few of the shots I took, I was able to capture some natural elements, along with people and buildings to help demonstrate the sheer immensity of the mountains. Combining this with the interesting clouds as seen in Natural Division, one can’t help but feel like I was there in the perfect moment for these photographs to be taken. Skies like this are something that I’m more familiar with shooting, but what really struck me were the flowing patterns of the thousands of trees covering the landscape in between the patches of snow. For example, in Those Who Protect which show trees that follow the hill as a perfectly curved line, which in my opinion adds balance and so much value to the composition.

Autumn’s Sister
Dolomites, Italy
Even during winter, the autumnal colors remain. On sunny days, the magical lighting and colors of the leaves created all kinds of beautiful hues in the landscape, making it a perfect place for capturing some incredible photos. The prints below show a palette of earthy colors that contrast with the other prints and their blueish hues. The warm oranges, yellows, vibrant reds, and browns convey such a cozy atmosphere, and my print Autumn’s Sister really reminded me of my own Sister, which is why I named this print after her.
I hope this collection has truly given you a glimpse into the stunning landscapes and mountain views of this region in Northern Italy. From the craggy peaks in Tre Cime National Park to the amazing Lago Di Braies, the Dolomites truly have something to offer every visitor. Perhaps you’ll plan your own journey here soon! Thank you so much for your time, and I hope you’ll find a work of art that you’ll fall in love with <3 😊 Cheers until next time! -Scott
