Against The Odds
In this symmetrical image Photographer and Digital Artist, Scott Allen Wilson captured the tower of Castelvecchio Museum located in Verona, Italy. Framed by the classical orange and beige buildings with green windows, the tower stands out in the middle and is protected by the brick wall, causing the composition of this image to be filled with geometric patterns and a satisfying balance of all elements. It has been realized on glossy Fuji Crystal Archive paper and mounted beneath acrylic glass. The mounted print is surrounded by a beautiful natural oak solid wood frame. Every element of this piece was individually selected with the intention of being a part of a unified piece of art.
I think this print perfectly encapsulates the essence and the energy of Verona, Italy. I hope you love it 🙂

Thoughts and Ponderings about Against The Odds
Castelvecchio in Verona, Italy, is a fascinating medieval castle with a rich history and a number of interesting features. One interesting fact about Castelvecchio is that it was built on the site of a Roman theater, and some of the original Roman structures can still be seen within the castle walls. The castle was built in the 14th century by the powerful Scaliger family and served as a military fortress, as well as a symbol of the family’s wealth and power. During the reign of the Scaligeri, the castle was heavily fortified and equipped with a moat, drawbridge, and towers to withstand attacks.
Another interesting fact is that the castle underwent extensive renovations during the 20th century, following its use as a military hospital during World War I. The famous Italian architect, Carlo Scarpa, was commissioned to oversee the renovations, and he transformed the castle into a modern museum, preserving its historic features while incorporating innovative design elements. Today, Castelvecchio is one of Verona’s most popular tourist destinations, and visitors can explore the castle’s well-preserved rooms and admire its stunning architecture, as well as the impressive collection of art and artifacts on display.
