We all know the balcony and the two lovers that made this city famous, but apart from the known story of Romeo and Juliet- this is a city that can really catch you by surprise. Verona is a city that’s full of of interesting history, which also includes specialty dishes that you won’t find in most cities in Italy. Each time I’ve visited Verona I’ve always left with a sense of fulfilment- and in my case, of course plenty of photographs.
The first thing that you notice when walking into the city center from the Porta Nuova train station is that Verona’s walls are largely intact – and part of the top of the main wall has been converted into a park, which I love. The river that goes through the city, and the plants that you can find throughout the city and upon its balconies offer beautiful views I often miss in Florence. If you’ve been to Verona you’ll know what I mean when I say it’s a city that shouldn’t be missed if you’re travelling anywhere near Milano, and if you’re skeptical I hope my new collection of framed prints can make you change your mind.
In my print Of Balconies and Flowers, my intention was to capture the lively essence of one of the many narrow streets of Verona that guide to impressive medieval architecture of the historic center. In this case, you can see The Clocktower of Palazzo della Regione which stars on its own framed print so you can see it up close. Something that I find truly fascinating about photography is what you don’t see just out of frame – which in this case I’m referring to the street below that is out of frame. What I like most about this particular street is the material that they’ve paved it with which is as shiny as marble – though I wonder how many people might fall during the colder and wetter months.

Like Florence, Verona is surrounded by nature- yet throughout the city it feels so much closer. Viewing the hills surrounding the city you’ll see trees intertwined between medieval townhouses, churches, and villas that all contribute to a sense of collective beauty. Decorate your walls with any of the prints shown below and you may feel you’re being immediately transported into a fairytale 🙂

The Amphitheater
Verona, Italy
Besides the inspiring views, a variety of imposing architectural masterpieces adorn the city and fill it with ancient stories that contribute to the enchanting environment. The Arena is Verona’s Roman Amphitheater where large-scale opera performances and other cultural events still take place. In the past, it used to be the location for some of the most important Ludi games and religious festivals that people came from far and wide to experience. The Castelvecchio Museum also appears on the prints below to show the imposing fortress built in the Middle Ages to avoid riots inside the city. What’s not to adore about a city that delivers art and history absolutely everywhere?
If you want to know more about this wonderful city I really encourage you to take a look at my full collection 🙂 I hope you’ll find a print that you love – and if you have any customization requests please also know that you can always reach out to me to ask for a custom request for a change in the frame, size, or passe-partout.
